Day 9: Lockout and Talks Continue
Court-ordered mediation resumes at 1 pm today after adjourning at 7.30 pm last night.
Meanwhile the 600 NDU and EPMU members remain locked out.
NDU National Secretary Laila Harre says that she believes the resolve of workers to achieve a decent settlement is steadfast.
"These workers are now into their 9th day without pay and have been locked out since Monday. They are as determined as ever to win a deal that will see workers in Auckland and Christchurch achieve parity with workers doing the same job in Palmerston North."
Laila Harre says that the parties are unable to comment on the content of the talks yesterday.
"I can say that the unions are absolutely determined to keep the talks going until a settlement is reached. In the meantime the support we are getting from our wider union membership, other unions and the community is vital."
